Spring is a great time to teach with gardening techniques. We've discreetly tossed the hideous sweet potato vines that were overgrowing the kitchen and looking for some prettier science projects. Growing strawberries and tomatoes in special pots & stands is fun and looks good, too. We found some great containers at www.plowandhearth.com.
Also, remember teaching about plant tubes and using the celery to demonstrate how the water goes through the stem to the leaves? Family Fun this month suggests putting white flowers in separate containers with a drop of food coloring in each. The colored water will seep up the tubes and change the flowers to the color of the water. |
